It’s a jungle out there

A little client entered our clinic in Gateshead this week and exclaimed in an excited tone:

“This place is MYSTERIOUS!”.

He had stumbled upon our jungle themed display and was listing all the different types of animals he could spot: from monkeys to zebras, cockatoos to rosellas. In his mind he had become an explorer, deep in the jungle, with lots of things to see and beware of (including a couple of plush snakes!).

“Wow, this place is HUGE!” he said as he turned from the display to examine the clinic.

I think he really enjoyed his therapy session. He will make a great explorer one day!

It is sometimes a jungle in here and it reminds me that the market for therapy services can be a bit of a jungle for you. Whether therapy is personally funded or supported by the NDIS, Medicare or Health Funds, it is a significant and serious investment and it is not easy to know who to approach.

At Harmony Speech Pathology, we pride ourselves on putting the work in upfront to help you make the best decision for your child.

We will always give our honest opinion about the best therapeutic direction for your child. Our unique intake process guarantees that your child will be allocated to a therapist with:

  • clinical training and experience
  • theoretical knowledge, and
  • interest areas

that are the best fit for your child, with the goal of obtaining the best outcomes from therapy.

On our website you can Meet Our Team and see that each therapist has a unique skill set and therapeutic interests. We are really proud to have a team of therapists that complement each other so well.

Additionally, if we truly believe we can’t provide the appropriate intervention that your child needs at this time, we are happy to assist you in finding a therapist who can, by referring you to a different practice that we know has the skills to meet the needs of your child.

Our Cinical Director, Fiona, is the local area network coordinator for private practice speech pathologists in the Hunter Region. She meets regularly with the directors of other speech pathology practices in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region and is well positioned to know how they can help your child if we can’t.

We want you to know that we are here to help you in whatever way we can. That is our goal!

Please contact us on (02) 4048 0857 if you wish to make an inquiry about the needs of your child.
